Estimating the Cost of Your Website Design
Have you ever wondered how much it would cost for an effective company website design? Without one your business may struggle against its competition, but is it worth spending a fortune that you may not have to spend? While it would be excellent to provide a figure for how much your website design could cost, it is unfortunately not such a simple process. Don’t panic though, because by considering how you could go about having your own company website design created, and by looking at any future costs that your business may incur, you could soon have a great idea of how much that professional and effective website could cost you.
What will it cost for me to create the website?
Not long ago the only individuals qualified to create websites were professional designers that could charge the earth plus interest to make you a great design. Times have changed though, and now the majority of individuals familiar with the World Wide Web can actually create a website of their own. This has forced many of the best designers around to reduce their costs to stay competitive in a busy market.
You might be considering having a stab at creating a company website design yourself to lower the costs. If that’s the case then there are still some expenses that you must consider:
- Will you need to purchase any software to create your website? You might need some sort of graphics package such as Adobe Photoshop to create a header image, for example.
- Will you be purchasing any website templates? Many designers offer cheap website templates that you can purchase for a small fee to plug into you own design. You could find an effective template for free or for thousands of pounds, but many are in the affordable region of £20 – £40.
- How long will it take you to create your company website design? Have you considered how much money you would be making for your business if you weren’t creating the design? Weigh this cost against that of hiring a professional designer to see which is the more expensive.
What will it cost for someone else to create the website?
Let’s say either the cost or the hassle of creating your own website from scratch is just too high. In that case you may wish to hire someone to do the work for you. There are two ways in which this would usually be conducted:
- Hire freelance specialists to create the code for your website or its design or even its content.
- Pay one specialist website design company to create the whole lot for you.
Hiring freelancers can often be very affordable, but you must be assured of their quality and may need to hire more than one to cover the different skills required to complete your pages. A website design company on the other hand, may offer a great website design package for just a few hundred pounds, removing the hassle of finding freelancers yourself.
What other costs are associated with website design?
Along with the initial cost of creating your website you must also remember some additional expenses. The domain name for your website will cost money each year, though usually less than £10, and a website hosting package will set you back anything from £30 a year up depending on the service that you wish to receive. You can either cover these costs yourself, or ask your website design company to offer a continual hosting and upkeep package.
