Make Money from a Website with Google AdSense

Not too many years ago pay-per-click advertising was one of the main ways that budding internet based entrepreneurs were making their cash. Placing adverts on their websites could result in a few pence being passed over from the advertising company for every click. While the system worked well in some instances, it was too easily exploited by individuals hiring others to sit and repeatedly click on their advertising links.

Today all pay-per-click advertising opportunities have vanished. All apart from Google AdSense that is! Google have created a system that will detect repeated clicks from those aiming to scam it, while still providing money to those that have created a genuine website and simply want to make a little extra money from it. It’s likely that you have seen Google’s staple blue advertising boxes appear on some websites. Well each time you click on a link through that website, the owner earns a few pence. Although a few pence certainly isn’t enough to quite the day job for, it can quickly mount up into a reasonable income should enough traffic pass through your website.

How to get started

If making a little extra money via your own website sounds like a tempting proposal then you will be happy to hear that setting yourself up with Google Adsense is a simple process:

-       Head to the website for Google AdSense and register for a new account.

-       Use the tools that are provided in order to create advertisements that fit in with the design of your website.

-       Google will automatically generate HTML code that you can easily slot into your website where you wish the adverts to appear.

-       Wait for a few minutes for the advert to appear.

Before you will be able to receive payment, Google will insist upon you entering a short code that they will send you in the post. This can take time, but once completed you can receive payment either straight into your bank account or via a cheque posted to your registered address.

Placing your adverts in prominent positions may help you to increase the amount of visitors that will click through to earn you some money, but without a regular stream of traffic visiting your pages you will struggle to be successful.

Stay safe with Google AdSense

While Google AdSense is certainly an excellent way to monetise your website and can bring in a regular second income, or even replace your first should your webpages be successful enough, there are still some associated risks. For one, having your friends and family members click the advertisements on your website will be a sure way to have your account banned and all income that you had generated lost. Once an AdSense account is banned it is almost impossible to reactivate it, particularly if there was a genuine reason for their action.

Google AdSense won’t make you millions over night, but used carefully within your websites you could soon find yourself drawing in an extra bonus each month.
